If Sackboy runs into any obstacles while the power up is active, the object will be destroyed and Score Bubbles will be released from it, awarding the player with additional points. The rolling ball renders Sackboy temporarily immune to getting hit by obstacles on the track, although he is still susceptible to falling into a pit. When activated, Sackboy enters a rolling ball, after which the player is then instructed to "smash everything". The rolling ball power up is activated if the player runs across a shield pickup. The magnet, true to its name, attracts all Score Bubbles on the other lanes to Sackboy, regardless of what lane he is currently running on. The player can run into pickups on the track that will give them power ups that can help increase their score. If the player fails to complete a Daily Duel, they will lose the bag until the next Daily Duel is made available. If the player successfully completes a Daily Duel, they will be rewarded with a bag of items that can be claimed the following day. Daily Duel is a similar mode, with the core difference being that there is only one opponent with a harder score to surpass. Run is the standard game mode, where the player must earn more points than all the other opponents on the track. There are two game modes in the current builds. Coins can be used to pay an entry fee to participate in races. Gems appear to be the paid microtransaction currency, while coins are a common currency awarded at the end of races. There appear to be at least two types of currency in the game, coins and gems. Costume pieces can be leveled up by using crafting materials, duplicate costume pieces and coins. You can earn costume pieces by opening sacks earned in races, or by completing the daily races to earn one costume piece the next day. Similar to previous games, the game features customization for your Sackboy. The player must get the most points before the end of the run to win. The game features races against another character or player on a finite course. The inclusion of microtransactions and advertising-based gameplay mechanics suggest that it will be free-to-play title. Sackboy continually runs forward on his own, and the player must swipe their finger on the screen to move Sackboy between the track's three lanes, slide or jump to avoid running into obstacles. Ultimate Sackboy plays much like other similar mobile runners like Crash Bandicoot: On the Run, Sonic Dash, or Subway Surfers. Sackboy completing a race in the Run game mode. Pete Smith also confirmed that the game would later be supported by iOS devices. Sony XDEV Product Development Director Pete Smith on May 6th responded to a comment about the game, stating that it "is just early access at this stage. Ultimate Sackboy is known to have been in early access on the Google Play Store at least as early as April 2021. Its visual assets are based off of the art style used in Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and it also features background music originally made for that game. It is the second mobile game in the LittleBigPlanet series, following Run Sackboy! Run!. It is currently in early access in select regions for Android devices only.
